When Leslie relocated from Los Angeles to Chicago, she found a gorgeous new apartment with gleaming hardwood floors, tall windows, and Windy City views. She wanted to add personality to her new-build bedroom but was having trouble settling on a style. So we brought in reinforcements: the Brownstone Boys.

The centerpiece of an inviting bedroom is, of course, the bed. The Brownstone Boys gave Leslie a showstopper, with a rich walnut finish and a turned headboard that feels both spare and sumptuous. Organic materials and earthy color palettes are both hallmarks of ’70s style, and a linen duvet in mossy green plays to each beautifully. A chenille throw in a soothing khaki stripe adds touchable texture, for a fully dressed bed that adds soft, subtle style.

Modern spaces can tend toward the cool side, but Leslie’s new room isn’t in danger of appearing aloof. The Brownstone Boys added in even more warm wood tones to make the space feel cozier, with a honey-hued credenza that features nature-inspired cane detail and a slim mid-century shape. It’s a lovely complement to the nightstand‘s oak finish and rattan drawer. Both pieces of furniture keep clutter out of sight for a serene sleep space.
