Regulation can differ by municipality
Despite the popularity of Tiny Homes, thanks in part due to shows like Tiny House Nation and others, some states are more friendly — less regulated — than others. For instance, states such as Florida, California, and New Mexico are known for their accommodating regulations towards tiny houses, making legally owning a tiny house relatively straightforward.

On the other hand, New York is notably challenging for those interested in tiny home living. The state has essentially prohibited the use of tiny homes for permanent living arrangements,LINK restricting their use to temporary or emergency circumstances. However, exceptions are made for RVs and mobile homes, though laws concerning these can also differ.
Franchisee Requirements
Potential franchisees must meet specific financial prerequisites, which include an initial franchise fee of $75,000, a net worth requirement of $250,000, and cash requirement of $75,000. Veterans keen on joining the Anchored Tiny Homes family will be offered an incentive of 10% off the franchise fee. The franchising agreement lasts a decade and can be renewed. In addition to this, franchisees are expected to pay a 6% royalty fee and a 1% ad royalty fee.
As a part of the onboarding process, the franchisees receive 29 hours of on-the-job training and 64 hours of classroom training. Ongoing support is also offered in various forms such as newsletters, grand opening guidance, online support, field operations, and site selection assistance.
Moreover, the franchise’s marketing support is robust, offering aid with regional advertising, social media engagement, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), website development, and email marketing.
While absentee ownership is allowed, the company requires that the franchise not be run as a home/mobile unit or part-time business. The franchise does offer exclusive territories, providing franchisees with a competitive edge.
