Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw often totes around enormous shopping bags filled with designer clothes, but on last week’s episode of Max’s spinoff series And Just Like That…, a bag holding a different item caught our attention. We all know Sarah Jessica Parker’s iconic character has excellent taste in fashion, but we just learned that it also extends to bedding: Carrie’s pillows of choice come from editor-favorite brand Parachute.
While others might’ve tuned into the Sex and the City franchise to keep a closer eye on the outfits, we’ve always been here for the stunning apartments. Carrie started out And Just Like That… in the place she used to share with Mr. Big on Fifth Avenue, but all the while, she still owned her Upper East Side studio that we all know and love from the original series. But during this new chapter, Carrie’s letting go of the past and moving forward with new-old beau Aidan (John Corbett) — which also means finally (and sadly) selling her classic abode.
During the tenth episode of AJLT Season 2, Carrie’s just starting to outfit the glamorous Gramercy Park four-bedroom that she and Aidan bought together, and the first order of business? Getting the bedroom ready with Parachute’s Down Pillows, of course.
Parachute has been one of the top bedding brands we’ve tried — and we’ve put a lot of different ones to the test — so we totally agree with Carrie’s selection. These pillows are totally luxe enough for her tastes, since they’re made from premium European white down that’s equal parts supportive and soft. And you can customize your pillow according to your sleeping preferences, with soft, medium, and firm densities. It’s even machine washable!
Like so many others out there, we are Parachute Cloud Quilt devotees — After giving it a go for a single night, our style editor Blair knew that she “would never, ever go back to any other comforter or duvet ever again” — so we have no doubt that their pillows are just as life-changing. More than 1,200 perfect ratings don’t lie, after all — and neither does Carrie! (Well, sometimes. Carrie totally misrepresents what it’s actually like living in New York, but hey, it’s a work of fiction.)
A number of reviewers said that they were able to land on a density that enhanced how well they rested. “After trying expensive pillows, cheap pillows, and memory foam (which is the kind of support I *thought* my body needed) pillows of every stripe, we turned to Parachute’s down pillows and will never look back,” one reviewer wrote. “Though they may seem simple, they are deceptively effective – it is no exaggeration to say that these have changed the way we sleep.”
Carrie’s choice of men might be questionable, but her pillow preferences aren’t. Some things from AJLT may be totally unbelievable — for one, a real New Yorker would never sell Carrie’s UES apartment, and especially not for a guy she’s had an unstable past with — but these Parachute pillows are definitely the real deal.
